After a nearly month-long delay, the Alaska House of Representatives has organized under the leadership of Speaker of the House Louise Stutes from Kodiak. I've served with Rep. Stutes since 2015 and we've worked successfully together through the political battles of the last few years.

I write today to tell you that Louise Stutes is going to be a great Speaker of the House. Why? Because she works hard and is a fearless politician. Louise Stutes has repeatedly stood up to party bosses and the well-funded special interests that too often dominate politics in Alaska. She's not afraid to take the tough votes and is dedicated to unifying the Alaska House of Representatives behind common-sense solutions.

I'm honored to serve beside Speaker Stutes as the House Majority Leader for the 32^nd Alaska State Legislature. I served as Majority Leader in 2017 and 2018 and know from experience how hard it can be to do the people's business in the midst of political and financial challenges. However, I have great faith in the men and women chosen to represent the people of Alaska. We are going to work hard and deliberate thoughtfully. I think solutions are possible if all of us put aside the politics of winning and losing and instead focus every day on representing the best interests of the people of Alaska.
