Senator Begich and I will be hosting a townhall on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12th. As has become my tradition, I’ll be making a fall harvest lunch (with lots of veggies from the farmer’s markets across town, of course!) so we can share some time together. We all know that sexual assault is a major problem in Alaska. Foundational to this is our understanding of consent. On October 10th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Anchorage LIO (1500 W Benson Blvd) we are hosting a discussion about consent. Current Alaska Statutes do not define consent, but references "without consent". This definition hasn’t been updated or changed since 1983. It is time we reexamine this concept and determine if we need to update our definition in Alaska and how best to do so.
