My colleagues and I find ourselves disappointed by the Republican Majority vote to increase spending to $500,000. We need to have functional offices for ourselves and our staff so we can serve our constituents, but I personally think that we have good options already. There is no need, in these tight fiscal times, to spend such an excessive amount of public funds on prettier chairs.

Before moving to Juneau for the 90 day legislative session, I wrote a newsletter predicting the big issues for this year. Well, it’s day 77. Muldoon Fire Station 6 is open and operational! The dedication will be October 27th, from 1-4pm at 1301 Patterson St and I hope you’ll join me there.

The new station is located near Begich Middle School on Debarr to serve the Muldoon area. The new location will improve response times, which is important because every minute counts during an emergency. Senator Wielechowski and I worked hard to secure funding for the new fire station and we couldn’t have done it without strong support from the community. Thank you for making our neighborhoods safer!
