The 28th Alaska State Legislature is underway. Keeping with tradition, the first day was not without some surprises, Representative Beth Kerttula resigning her seat to take a fellowship on ocean policy at Stanford University. Beth has been a great leader, colleague and friend and we will all miss her dearly.
JUNEAU – Today, Representative Andy Josephson assumed prime sponsorship of former representative Beth Kerttula’s House legislation to ban discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
This is only the first week of session and there is already so much excitement to share with you! As you may have heard, my very good friend and colleague, Representative Beth Kerttula of Juneau, is stepping down from her position as House Democratic Leader and leaving her seat in the Legislature for an amazing opportunity at Stanford University.
In what is perhaps becoming routine, session started with a bang for the House Democrats this year. We gaveled in this past Tuesday and the first big announcement of the year came from our Minority Leader, Beth Kerttula.
