Rep. Drummond’s Dispatch: Happy Valentines Day!

Next week, the Education Session really heats up! People from across the state are working on ways to make their voices heard. It was just announced that House Joint Resolution 1 (HJR1), the bill that would allow for the amending of the Alaska Constitution to provide public funds for private and religious schools, will be heard in the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, February 9th, at 1:00pm

Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: The Real Story – North Slope Jobs and Investment are Rising Under ACES

The Legislature continues to rush forward with the governor’s massive and ill-conceived giveaway of Alaska’s oil wealth at a frantic pace, hoping to get the bill passed before the 90 day session concludes on April 14. As I have stated before, this bill will give billions of dollars from the state treasury to the wealthiest and most profitable corporations in the world – with no promise or guarantee of increased production or investment in Alaska.

Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: Record Industry Profits, Strong State Savings – Tomorrow is the Time to Speak Out

Dear Neighbors,

Rep. Guttenberg’s Legislative Report: Last Chance to Testify on Oil Taxes

Thank you to everyone that has called, written, or sent an e-mail to my office. It is very important to hear from you.

As I’ve said in the past, I don’t work for corporations. I don’t work for a political party. I work for YOU. I want to hear from constituents, not put-up campaigns. If you’re a District 38 resident, I want to hear from you!

The Drummond Dispatch: Notes from Juneau

Over the years I’ve watched the end of session rush of bills from afar on Gavel to Gavel, so I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I was in for when I came down to Juneau.

Now that we are down to the wire and I am in the thick of it, I can tell you it’s even more hectic on this end!

Rep. Kawasaki’s Juneau Note: Gov’s Giveaway and a Full Plate of Bills

Dear Neighbors,

In the Finance committee, we are in the thick of studying the Governor’s oil tax break. Last week, shortly after 2 am the House Resources committee rushed out SB 21 with even lower taxes proposed for the oil industry than the Senate version. It now gives even more billions of your dollars to oil corporations, still without any guarantee for production.

The last week of session is always an interesting and busy time of year.
