I was opposed to HB 77 (one of last year’s most contentious bills) from its inception. I was proud of the public uproar over that bill. Alaskans’ voices always deserve to be heard. HB 77 is on the move again as well as another bill that aims to reduce public involvement (HB 47).

As expected, the Governor’s new gas line proposal has dominated much of the legislature’s discussions this session. Although the deal is far from done, and may not ultimately be the right path forward, the development of our natural gas reserves is a critical goal for the future of our state. It is essential that Alaskans have access to good information so we can negotiate a good deal for the long-term.

NEWS: Anchorage Legislative Caucus Announces Public Meeting Saturday 9am-Noon

Today, Anchorage Legislative Caucus co-chair Chris Tuck (D-Anchorage) invited Anchorage residents to come share their ideas, concerns, and experiences with Anchorage-area legislators in the Alaska state House and Senate this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Loussac Library. In addition to public testimony, the meeting will include brief presentations on ongoing and proposed state projects in and around Anchorage.
