Anchorage – Earlier today, District 40 State Representative Dean Westlake (D-Kiana) submitted his resignation. This comes in the wake of multiple reports of sexual harassment by Rep. Westlake against current and former legislative staffers.
More than 100 people from across Alaska participated in the 2nd Restorative Justice Summit over three days in early December. Hosted by Sen. Tom Begich and myself, this annual event brings together educators, school board members, criminal justice leaders, school district officials, parents and non-profits to share best practices that can be useful in schools and every day life.
It was my great honor in January to be selected as the first Alaska Native Speaker of the House in the history of the state. Sen. Wilson used the press conference to address allegations from multiple witnesses that he acted inappropriately in the Capitol Building in Juneau earlier this year.
