Sen. Johnny Ellis and Rep. Les Gara (both D-Anchorage) wrote today to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities on its plans to pay to demolish over $2.2 million in Government Hill residential properties before securing a necessary Federal loan.
JUNEAU – Representative Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins (D-Sitka) introduced open data legislation on Friday establishing an online data portal to allow Alaskans to easily access public records from one central website – basically, a data.gov equivalent for the State of Alaska.
Today, democratic legislators Representative Geran Tarr, Representative Beth Kerttula, Representative Harriet Drummond and Senator Berta Gardner spoke out against the governor’s bureaucratic intrusion into Alaska women’s personal health decisions. The Parnell administration recently finalized regulations allowing government bureaucrats to determine which circumstances determine whether a woman’s abortion procedure is medically necessary, a determination previously left to health professionals.
Representative Geran Tarr was elected a 2014 State Director with Women In Government by her fellow state legislative colleagues this past year. State directors help ascertain important issues in their states so that Women In Government can tailor programming to these needs.
