Dear friends and neighbors,

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent Juneau; it is truly an honor and a pleasure serving you and our beautiful community.

2011 was my thirteenth session with the Alaska State House of Representatives and fifth year as House Minority Leader and I look forward to continuing service in 2012. My seniority and leadership position in the Legislature have allowed me to strengthen and protect Juneau’s interests as I work to help improve our community and our state.

Legislature Creates Alaska Public Gardens Day

Bill would establish day to recognize unique role of public gardens in Alaska

JUNEAU – Today, the Alaska Legislature established Alaska Public Gardens Day on the Saturday immediately preceding Memorial Day each year. In doing so, the Legislature recognized the role gardens play in promoting environmental stewardship, the economy, education, plant conservation, recreation and research in Alaska.

[BILL] HB18: Public Gardens Day

House Bill 18 establishes Alaska Public Gardens Day on the Saturday immediately preceding Memorial Day each year. This recognition would commemorate the state’s public gardens and the role gardens play in promoting environmental stewardship, education, plant conservation , recreation and research.
