Dear Neighbors,
Fall is in full swing and I wanted to give you a couple of updates and share with you a couple of invitations.
Dear Neighbors,
Fall is in full swing and I wanted to give you a couple of updates and share with you a couple of invitations.
As the Christmas and Holiday Season get closer, it seems this is a pretty good time for us to think about, well, how we can save a life. OK. Any time of year is a good time to think about that. But the Anchorage Fire Department has just put out a great video.
JUNEAU – Today, Representative Andy Josephson (D-Anchorage) introduced two bills to fill gaps in assistance to peace officers and other workers injured on the job and to give just compensation to families of workers who are killed.
Legislative funding leads to new station, increased safety for Northeast neighborhoods
On Saturday, the Northeast Anchorage legislative delegation will attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Muldoon Fire Station #6 in East Anchorage. Senator Bill Wielechowski and Representatives Max Gruenberg and Pete Petersen secured $6 million in state backing for this project in 2010. Replacing the outdated Fire Station #6 building has long been a top priority for the Northeast Anchorage area, and, as stated in the Municipality of Anchorage’s press release, the new station will be a “symbol of pride for years to come.”
Muldoon Fire Station 6 is open and operational! The dedication will be October 27th, from 1-4pm at 1301 Patterson St and I hope you’ll join me there.
The new station is located near Begich Middle School on Debarr to serve the Muldoon area. The new location will improve response times, which is important because every minute counts during an emergency. Senator Wielechowski and I worked hard to secure funding for the new fire station and we couldn’t have done it without strong support from the community. Thank you for making our neighborhoods safer!
For more than three years the Municipality has been working to update the West Anchorage District Plan. When adopted, this Plan will establish public policy and direction for growth in the West Anchorage area over the next 20 years.
The West Anchorage District Plan involves a number of issues, including zoning, parks, the coastal trail, and land use conflicts between the community and the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
