Last weekend, I attended a ceremony in New York City honoring my late Uncle, Officer David Guttenberg. He was a decorated police officer who gave his life in the line of duty. A street was officially renamed after him to honor his sacrifice.
Senate Bill 54, Crime and Sentencing, will be open for public testimony in the House Judiciary Committee today (Tuesday, Oct. 24) from 6-9 PM.
Earlier this month, as Chair of the Departments of Public Safety and Corrections budgets for the House Finance Committee, I held hearings to provide the public and legislators the opportunity to learn more about the impact of budget cuts since 2014 on law enforcement and incarceration. Fairbanks – The Speaker of the Alaska House of Representatives will join Rep. Adam Wool (D-Fairbanks) for a legislative townhall in Fairbanks on Sunday, October 8th. The townhall will also include Majority Whip Rep. Louise Stutes (R-Kodiak) and House Resources Committee Co-Chair Rep. Andy Josephson (D-Anchorage).
It is time to get out and vote! The Alaska State Council on the Arts have opened public voting for Alaska’s Artistic License Plate. The options are the top five out of hundreds of submissions and are all designed by fellow Alaskans. All ages can vote but you must be a resident of Alaska.
This year I introduced HB 236, which would extend the Senior Benefits Program to the year 2022. Without action, modest monthly cash assistance to low-income seniors would end in June of 2018. Learn more about the bill and the program online here under the documents tab.
