On Wednesday Senator Lisa Murkowski delivered an address to a Joint Session of the Legislature. In her remarks, she highlighted new potential emerging in Washington, D.C., for improved federal cooperation in infrastructure and resource development in Alaska.
House Joint Resolution 6 is the First Piece of Legislation Approved This Year by the Alaska House FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 1, 2017 JUNEAU –
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Today is National Voter Registration Day! Hundreds of voter registration events are planned nationwide, as well as in our fair city. A list of events in Anchorage can be found here.

Why did the chicken cross Spenard Road? It didn’t. It would have died. Spenard Road has long been a frustration for many people in our district. Trying to turn on to 27th Avenue to get to Bear Tooth can be a downright nightmare at times. Plans for reconstruction have been in the works for decades. It began as a traffic and safety project in 1999 and has been a long and often arduous process ever since. That is finally about to change.

Last week Governor Walker took an important step towards lowering energy costs in Fairbanks by signing HB 105 into law. This enables the Interior Energy Project to purchase natural gas from Cook Inlet to bring to Fairbanks. Previously they were only authorized to buy gas from the North Slope, which proved to be too expensive. Passing this bill was not easy- after it passed through the House Energy Committee, which I’m a member of, the House Resources Committee added amendments that could have killed the project. Luckily, the Interior Delegation rallied together across party lines and we were able to remove those amendments.
