Gary was born in Whitefish, Montana and moved to Alaska in 1979. Gary spent time living in Anchorage and Sterling before eventually settling in Kenai. He and his wife Helen now live in Kenai where Gary works as a General Contractor when not representing District 30.
Gary was first drawn to public service at the local level and was elected to the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly in 2006. He served on the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly from 2006 to 2012, serving as President from 2010 to 2012. Gary returned to the Assembly in 2015 before being elected to represent District 30 at the State level in 2016.
As a member of the House of Representatives, Gary works to understand all aspects surrounding an issue in order to make informed decisions. He believes it is important to work together in order to find solutions to better local communities and move the State forward in a positive manner.
In his time as a Legislator, Gary has worked to remove burdensome regulations while, at the same time, sponsoring and co-sponsoring legislation that directly benefits the citizens of Alaska as well as the Kenai Peninsula. Gary strives to represent the people of District 30 as a strong advocate in the Alaska Legislature.
When Gary is not representing the wonderful folks on the Kenai he enjoys flying, Diving, Hunting, Golfing, and enjoying life in general at home on the Peninsula.
