JUNEAU – Today, on a unanimous vote, the Senate passed House Joint Resolution 5, by Representative Himschoot, calling on the Federal Government and State of Alaska to continue to defend Alaska’s fisheries, including the Southeast Alaska troll fishery and do everything within their power to keep the fishery open.
For any House District 2 team who lost a game this year to the undefeated Kake Thunderbirds, don’t feel bad. It turns out they truly were unbeatable!
On Tuesday the governor introduced two bills, and I have already received quite a bit of feedback about them. House Bill 105, SEX/REPRODUCTION EDUCATION; SCHOOLS, is a “parental rights in education” bill and HB 106, TEACHER RECRUITMENT; LUMP SUM PAYMENT, provides bonus pay to teachers.
Despite the days getting noticeably longer, it still feels a lot like winter in Juneau this week. I made the most of the wintery weather last weekend and spent some time on cross country skis. I hope to do the same again this weekend.
