April 9, 2024

Dear friends and neighbors,

House committees have come to a temporary standstill, as we began our debate of the FY25 budget today. With over 100 amendments to discuss, this will take up the majority of our days (and nights!) for the rest of this week. (Read on to see my video explanation of the budget process.)

I'll be in Anchorage this weekend - join me at 2 pm on Sunday, April 14th at Waffle Rush to discuss all things operating budget or just discuss neighborhood issues.

Sincerely,

.

House District 19 Issues Survey

Please complete this short 5-10 minute survey so that I can best serve you. You may choose to keep your responses anonymous, however there is an option to provide your contact information and/or indicate which neighborhood you live in at the end of the survey.

Budget Overview

Since the budget process can be difficult to follow along, I focused this week's Mina's Minute on explaining the budget process. (Using post-it notes as props!)

Anchorage Run-off

With neither mayoral candidates Suzanne LaFrance nor incumbent Dave Bronson expected to hit 45% of votes, it is likely that the Anchorage Mayoral Election will move to a run-off.

The Anchorage Assembly is scheduled to certify election results at their Regular Assembly Meeting on April 23rd. If the results are certified, a runoff will be noticed on April 28th.

  • Sunday, April 14 – Deadline to register or update voter registrations for the Runoff Mayoral Election
  • Tuesday, April 30 – Runoff Mayoral Election ballot packages mailed.
  • Tuesday, May 7 – Anchorage Voting Centers open for Runoff Mayoral Election
  • Tuesday, May 14 – Runoff Mayoral Election Day

Call 907-243-VOTE or email elections@anchorageak.gov for help!

Thank you to the Anchorage Assembly for the language and summary of deadlines.
