Friends and Neighbors,

A close up of a mapDescription automatically generatedTraffic is a near-universal subject of conversation, and Anchorage is no exception. Over the decades, our city and state have contemplated and built numerous roads, bridges, roundabouts, and more, with the goal of increasing connectivity and access within the Anchorage bowl.

As you may have heard, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has begun a process to evaluate possible changes to the Seward Highway between Tudor Road and Chester Creek. This project has been dubbed Midtown Congestion Relief.

This project is currently in the Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) stage, and any construction is still several years in the future.

If you would like to know more about the project, there is an Open House today at the Loussac Library, from 3-7 pm, with structured presentations scheduled for 3:30 and 5:30 pm.

Today’s meeting will be an opportunity to meet the project engineers, learn more about the proposed changes, and engage with the process as it moves forward.

If you have any questions about this project (or anything else related to the Legislature), I always appreciate hearing from constituents.

You can contact me by phone at 269-0265 or 1-800-465-4939. I am also available by email at rep.andy.josephson@akleg.gov. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
