A Day to Remember our Heroes Today we remember members of our armed services and public safety officers who put their lives on the line to serve and protect the public. Join Americans across the country in a moment of silence to reflect and remember 9/11. Also on this day, HB 235, establishing the “North Star Medal” for exceptional public safety or search and rescue officers who are injured in the line of duty, and SB 152, establishing Patriot Day and PTSI Awareness Day will become state law. I am proud to have co-sponsored and supported both bills in this previous legislative session. The bills will be signed into law at 4:00pm at Station #1, 100 E 4^th Avenue if you would like to attend the signing ceremony and hear remarks from Governor Walker. Welcoming Week in Anchorage Welcoming Week in Anchorage is just around the corner; the time of year we come together to celebrate our city’s diversity. The kickoff event will be this Saturday, September 15h, from 12:00pm-3:00pm at the Anchorage Museum. Museum admission this day is free! There will be cultural songs, dance, and spoken word.
