Governor Pulls Plug
on Tshibaka DMV Closures
April 14, 2021
Dear Neighbors,

Great news: The Dunleavy Administration has cancelled a proposal to close six DMVs which was proposed by the former Department of Administration Commissioner. The legislature has been working to protect DMV services, with budget language led by Representative Wool and Representative Kreiss-Tomkins, and by advancing a bill I introduced, HB 137.

The original proposal by the former Commissioner Kelly Tshibaka suggested closing six DMV offices in Delta Junction, Tok, Homer, Eagle River, Valdez, and Haines.
Senate Finance is hearing HB 76 to ensure we have a strong response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This bill has already passed the House and would ensure airport testing for COVID and that Alaska can receive Federal SNAP food assistance.
Last week, I visited with Tam Johannes of Tam Johannes Design in South Addition. Thank you to Tam for donating this painted glass piece for the Anchorage Symphony Auction.
See you around the neighborhood,
Zack
