I am honored by the faith you have placed in me to serve as your State Representative in the 32nd Alaska State Legislature. Itās my 13th year in the Legislature, and itās proving to be the most challenging year yet due to the global pandemic and the unsolved fiscal crisis.
Earlier today, the Alaska House of Representatives passed House Bill 76 (HB 76), extending the public health disaster emergency declaration until September 30, 2021.
JUNEAU – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives voted unanimously for a resolution proclaiming March of 2021 as Brain Injury Awareness Month in Alaska.
This week, I was appointed by Speaker of the House Louise Stutes to one of the legislative seats on the Board of Directors of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI). I’m honored by the appointment because I believe in ASMI’s mission to promote Alaska seafood to the world.
This week, Alaska became the first state in the nation to offer any adult a COVID-19 vaccination. Anyone over the age of 16 can get the Pfizer vaccine and anyone over the age of 18 can get the Moderna vaccine or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
On February 27, Mike Brander passed away due to complications from COVID-19. He was a former Speaker of the House and one of Alaskaās legendary journalists. Mikeās passing is a huge loss because he was a statesman who played an instrumental role in guiding and shaping the Alaska we love and cherish.
On Wednesday, I participated in a meeting to transfer leadership of the powerful Legislative Budget & Audit Committee (LB&A) to Sen. Natasha von Imhof.
After a nearly month-long delay, the Alaska House of Representatives has organized under the leadership of Speaker of the House Louise Stutes from Kodiak.
