My office has been busy setting up shop in Anchorage for the interim. Some of the topics on my mind these days have been improving local infrastructure, sound environmental management, resolving our fiscal issues, and, of course, abating crime in our fair city.
Mourning and learning half a century after Bobby Kennedy’s death
On Wednesday, June 6th, we recognize one of the most tragic and calamitous events in American history: that 50 years have passed since the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy.
Many Americans like me are sustained and encouraged by great historical figures, whether living or deceased. Mine are the usual and deserving suspects: Lincoln, Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt, Gandhi, and King.

Legislature Addresses Medical Licensing, Regulation, and Family Therapy
Juneau â In a bipartisan effort to improve health care, the Alaska Legislature acted to streamline medical licensing and addressed regulatory issues in the medical field on the final day of session. House Bill 280, an extension for the Board of Marital and Family Therapy sponsored by Representative Andy Josephson (DâAnchorage), was amended to include portions Senate Bill 108 sponsored by Senator Giessel (RâAnchorage), which dealt with reforms requested by the state Medical Board.
Coalition Members Reflect on the 30th Alaska Legislature
Juneau â After a flurry of legislative action, the Alaska House of Representatives joined the Alaska Senate in adjourning the Second Session of the 30th Alaska Legislature sine die early Sunday morning. Workersâ Compensation Reform Passes the Alaska Legislature
Juneau â Today, the Alaska Legislature passed legislation put forward by Alaska Governor Bill Walker to improve Alaskaâs workersâ compensation system. House Bill 79 allows for electronic filing, reduces administrative costs, more clearly defines âindependent contractorâ, and provide adequate funding to administer the workersâ compensation system.
