Rep. Andi Story begins year-long project that will help state education systems achieve at the highest level
JUNEAU – The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) recently selected Rep. Andi Story (D-Juneau) to be part of the Legislative International Education Study Group.
The group is composed of 16 state legislators from across the nation who will study high-performing, equitable, and efficient education systems around the world. The year-long project will culminate in a report to state legislatures and the public providing a framework to help all students achieve at high levels.
“It is an honor to be selected for NCSL’s International Education Study Group,” said Rep. Andi Story. “The work and outputs will help inform where education in Alaska is on track, and where we need to make policy improvements. Education is so critical for our children, workforce, economy, and future. Those are the reasons why I focus so intently on this topic.”
The bipartisan group held their first virtual meeting last week on September 1st and 2nd. During this meeting, they learned how the U.S. compares to top-performing education systems, and explored research on policies and practices of systems that achieve equity, excellence, and efficiency. The work is building from the research in the informative report, “No Time To Lose.”
