Joint hearing on steps needed to protect Alaskans from COVID-19 at high-risk facilities

HSS, State Affairs committees to hear testimony on health risks at prison and jails, API

WHAT: Prisons in Alaska and across the country are highly vulnerable to COVID-19 outbreaks. The House State Affairs Committee and House Health and Social Services Committee will hear testimony today from officials from the Alaska Correctional Officers Association and employee representatives from McLaughlin Youth Center and Alaska Psychiatric Institute on steps needed to protect the health of workers, patients, and inmates at high-risk facilities.
