Vote-by-mail procedures to be examined by legislature in light of pandemic


House State Affairs Committee to hear expert testimony next Tuesday at 10:00am

JUNEAU – With COVID-19 creating uncertainty to the safety of Alaskan voters, the House State Affairs Committee will hear expert testimony on Tuesday, May 19, at 10 a.m. regarding vote-by-mail procedures. Testimony
will focus on how other states are adopting vote-by-mail systems in reaction to the pandemic, as well as vote-by-mail procedures in Anchorage.

Invited presenters include: 

  • Amber McReynolds, Executive Director of the National Vote at Home Institute
  • Wendy Underhill, Director of Elections and Redistricting at the National Conference of State Legislatures
  • Barbara Jones, Municipal Clerk for the Municipality of Anchorage

The committee will have the presentations ready
for public review on Tuesday, and the hearing will be streamed live on 
akl.tv.
