Alaska Food Security Week events scheduled in Juneau
Sixth annual Food Security Week highlights food production, food access, and food waste

JUNEAU – Earthquakes and forest fires, interruptions in transportation networks, and a changing climate have all elevated awareness of the need to enhance Alaska’s food security.

A series of events are scheduled this week in the Alaska State Capitol to help increase understanding of the need for our state to achieve food security.

“I’m thrilled to partner with organizations from across the state for the 6th annual Food Security Week,” Rep. Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) said. “Food production, food access, and food waste are being highlighted in 2020. We have many learning opportunities this week and I hope my colleagues and their staff will attend as many events as possible.”
