We heard you. Alaskans have been insisting that the legislature crack down on crime. The House did just that. As a former prosecutor, I feel passionate about this issue, and fighting for a strong criminal justice system that protects public safety has always been a top priority for me. In 2016, I was the only Democrat to vote against Senate Bill 91. This Wednesday, I enthusiastically voted to repeal and replace it.

The House and Senate are busy moving policy bills while the operating budget conference committee works on hammering out a compromise budget that closes the $1.2 billion deficit while protecting essential services and funding a Permanent Fund Dividend.

House passes bill to keep Pioneer Homes affordable

JUNEAU – The Alaska House of Representatives on Friday passed House Bill 96 with broad bipartisan support on a 35-to-4 vote. The legislation would block massive rate increases and keep Pioneer Homes affordable by limiting future cost increases to match inflation.
