Speaker Edgmon releases statement on budget conference committee
Re-affirms commitment to work with Senate to build a streamlined, sustainable budget

JUNEAU – The Alaska House of Representatives on Friday voted 37-to-1 to reject changes made by the Senate to the operating budget bill, House Bill 39.
This is the standard process followed by the Legislature each year and sets up a budget conference committee which will be composed of members from each body who will work together to sort out differences and develop a final spending plan.
House Speaker Bryce Edgmon released the following statement after the vote:
“The Alaska House Majority remains committed to developing a streamlined budget that protects core services and pays Alaskans a sustainable dividend. We look forward to working through the details of the budget in a conference committee with the Senate. Getting this critical task right is bigger than any one member of the Legislature.”
– Rep. Bryce Edgmon (I-Dillingham)
