Lawmakers to Discuss How to Protect Children and Promote Healthy Families
Juneau – The newly reformed Alaska Children’s Caucus in the Alaska Legislature will hold its inaugural meeting today at noon. Caucus co-chairs, Representative Sara Rasmussen (R-Anchorage) and Representative Chris Tuck (D-Anchorage), have invited all Senators and Representatives to join them for a discussion, over lunch, about caucus priorities.
“The decisions we make as lawmakers are important and impact children and families. That’s why Rep. Tuck and I decided to restart the nearly forgotten Children’s Caucus. We invited all lawmakers to join, and I hope we can make a difference in our shared goal of protecting children and promoting healthy Alaskan families,” said Rep. Rasmussen.
Today’s inaugural meeting of the Alaska Children’s Caucus is open to the public and the press. The meeting will be streamed live on the Alaska Legislature’s website.
“The only way to find real solutions is by working together, which is my hope for the Children’s Caucus. It’s been my experience that a group of dedicated lawmakers who put aside politics and work toward a shared goal can get things done. I think protecting children and promoting healthy families is a goal we all share,” said Rep. Chris Tuck.
