Throughout the session I have sent you updates on HB 240: Pharmacy Benefits Managers. Yesterday, the House unanimously passed it out and we are now one step closer to lower pharmaceutical costs for Alaskans. I would like to thank the pharmacists who helped the legislature better understand this pressing issue and also to Senator Cathy Giessel for her work on advancing the bill in the Senate. HB 240 will be heard in Senate Finance and then forwarded to the Senate Floor for final passage. Below is the press release for more information:

It’s time for the Legislature to reverse the trend of declining school support

Public education matters because a student’s opportunity to achieve matters. The Legislature has an opportunity to end years of continuing cuts to teachers, guidance and career counselors, teacher training, end even courses. We’ve lost over 500 teachers, counselors and education support staff in recent years. Bigger class sizes, demoralized teachers, and rolled back curriculum don’t increase academic achievement.
