It has been such an exciting week! Today on the floor we swore in the newly appointed Representative John Lincoln from District 40. It was a beautiful ceremony attended by many of his family members and close friends. Welcome to the legislature, Representative Lincoln.
In a promising sign of bipartisan consensus, HB 287—Alaska House Majority Co-alition member Paul Seaton’s bill to fund K-12 Education early, and separately from the Operating budget—passed from the House Finance Committee Thurs-day without a single objection.
My colleagues and I on the House Finance Committee have pushed hard to address one of the biggest parts of the state budget: K-12 education. Yesterday we voted to move the bill to the full House Floor.
