Last weekend, I attended a ceremony in New York City honoring my late Uncle, Officer David Guttenberg. He was a decorated police officer who gave his life in the line of duty. A street was officially renamed after him to honor his sacrifice.
I’ve been running around trying to get things done at the Capitol for this latest “Unspecial Session.” Sorry I didn’t get this out earlier!!
An Invitation to Testify on SB54 – As much as I loved being home in Airport Heights, we’re now all back in Juneau for the fourth special session! We hit the ground running yesterday, working on SB 54, the revision to our crime bill.
Senate Bill 54, Crime and Sentencing, will be open for public testimony in the House Judiciary Committee today (Tuesday, Oct. 24) from 6-9 PM.
Juneau – The House Judiciary Committee will accept public testimony tonight on Senate Bill 54, which continues a multi-year effort to reduce corrections costs and Alaska’s high recidivism rate.
The fourth special session is off to a fast start and work is progressing on the SB 54, the revision to the omnibus crime bill. Public Safety is an ever-growing concern across the state and I wanted to make you aware of an opportunity to have your voice heard on the issue this evening.

Members of the public can testify from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. tonight from Legislative Information Offices (LIO) across the state or in person at the State Capitol Building in Juneau.
