This newsletter serves as a snapshot of this week’s important votes. Since the beginning of session, many of you have told me and other legislators to “Do something!” Throughout this session we have been constantly working on Alaska’s complex budget. This week, we did something. We passed out three key bills in our balanced fiscal plan:
Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives passed the “Education Funding Act” to set up a stable revenue stream to help pay for Alaska’s constitutionally mandated public education system. House Bill 115 is the final piece of the Alaska House Majority Coalition’s comprehensive fiscal plan to pass the Alaska House of Representatives.
We’re in the last days of the 90-day legislative session and the House and Senate are picking up the pace as the deadline approaches. The legislature will likely go past the 90-day deadline as we work to finish as soon as possible. The budget remains our top priority and we’re committed to working together to create a responsible action plan for Alaska.

Juneau – Today, Representative Harriet Drummond (D-Anchorage) introduced legislation to prohibit certain telecommunications and internet service providers from collecting personal information without express written approval from the customer. House Bill 230 will help customers know how their personal data is being used and will give people a chance to opt out of that data collection.
