NEWS: Rep. Josephson Applauds Increased Oversight of the Proposed Pebble Mine

Juneau – Representative Andy Josephson (D-Anchorage) released the following statement upon learning that the Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is placing new requirements on the Pebble Limited Partnership’s land-use permit for its mining claims in the Bristol Bay region. DNR is requiring some of the boreholes drilled during exploration activities be inspected, reclaimed, and closed during the upcoming 2017 field season.

Longer days and longer House Floor sessions indicate the coming of spring. The House has passed a fully-funded operating budget, which is smaller than last year’s budget. It is now being heard by the Senate. HB 111, the oil tax credit bill, moved from the House to the Senate this week. We in Juneau are working hard to minimalize the impacts of a state-wide recession and put Alaska on a financially-stable road.
