Juneau – In a step forward for legislative reform, the Alaska House of Representatives tonight passed House Bill 44, strengthening the definition of what constitutes a conflict of interest when voting in the Alaska Legislature.
Juneau – The Alaska House of Representatives unanimously passed legislation Friday designating March as Sobriety Awareness Month in Alaska. Once approved and signed into law, the designation will be permanent and open up additional opportunities for both the public and private sector to organize awareness activities. House Bill 138 is sponsored by Representative Dean Westlake (D-Kiana).
Longer days and longer House Floor sessions indicate the coming of spring. The House has passed a fully-funded operating budget, which is smaller than last year’s budget. It is now being heard by the Senate. HB111, the oil tax credit bill, should soon be scheduled for a vote. We in Juneau are working hard to minimalize the impacts of a state-wide recession and put Alaska on a financially-stable road.
