Juneau – Today, the U.S. Army confirmed that the 4-25 Infantry Brigade Combat Team will stay at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson. Representative Gabrielle LeDoux (R-Anchorage), who represents a portion of JBER, was pleased with the decision.
“The U.S. Army’s decision to keep the 4-25 at JBER shows the power of persistence and persuasion by the people of Anchorage and those who believe Alaska is a perfectly placed to house an infantry brigade combat team,” said Rep. LeDoux. “The economic impact of keeping 5,000 highly-trained soldiers and their families in Alaska is hugely significant to the larger economy but I am especially grateful that the small businesses that rely on and serve those soldiers can continue with business as usual with no interruptions. The men and women of the military stand ready to put their lives on the line for our country and I think I can speak for all Alaskans when I say thank you.”
