Public Input Also Welcome at Constituent Meetings Across Anchorage
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 23, 2017
Juneau – Members of the Alaska Legislature who represent the Anchorage area encourage public participation Saturday during the Anchorage Caucus meeting. The meeting, which is traditionally held during the legislative session, gives Anchorage area residents the ability to express their views on issues being considered by the Alaska State Legislature.
“We have some monumental decisions in front of us this session about how to respond to the ongoing recession and how to protect the Alaska economy. Saturday’s Anchorage Caucus meeting is just one of many ways Alaskans can tell us what they want, which will help lawmakers make better and more informed decisions,” said Representative Ivy Spohnholz (D-Anchorage), who is one of the Co-Chairs of the Anchorage Caucus. “This year we are making it easier for Alaskans to speak directly to their Representatives and Senators by having legislators distributed by district throughout the fourth floor. There will also be an opportunity for Alaskans to document their preferences about how to address our fiscal situation. In addition to the Anchorage Caucus meeting, many members of the Alaska House Majority Coalition are holding constituent meetings across Anchorage Saturday. We welcome input and will continue to be open and accountable to the people of Anchorage and the people of Alaska.”
Saturday’s Anchorage Caucus meeting will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Anchorage Legislative Information Office (LIO). The public and media are welcome to attend.
