Press Conference Scheduled to Honor the 8th Anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act

Juneau – Sunday marked the 8th anniversary of the signing of the federal Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help with the effort to ensure equal pay for women. The act also helps prevent discriminatory practices that prevent women from having the same employment opportunities as men. The Act was the first piece of legislation signed by former President Barack Obama shortly after he took office in 2009.
Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) will discuss the importance of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the ongoing efforts to address the gender pay gap in Alaska during a press conference this morning in the Alaska State Capitol.
