FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANCHORAGE – Senator Berta Gardner (D-Anchorage), Rep. Harriet Drummond (D-Anchorage), and Rep. Andy Josephson (D-Anchorage) will host a town hall constituent meeting this Saturday at the West Romig Library from 10am to 11:30am, for residents of Spenard, Midtown, and the UMed district. The meeting will be held in advance of the Second Session of the 29th Alaska Legislature, which begins on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Juneau.
The guest speaker will be Cliff Groh, Chair of Alaska Common Ground, and a former Special Assistant to the Commissioner of Revenue and legislative staff on developing the Permanent Fund Dividend program. The PFD has been much in the news lately, with various changes to it discussed as possible solutions to closing Alaska’s cavernous fiscal gap.
Lawmakers will take up the budget and many issues of importance to Alaskans once the session begins. This town hall is an ideal opportunity for the public to listen, learn, and provide input and guidance to their legislators, face to face.
“I always look forward to this type of town hall meeting,” said Senate Minority Leader Berta Gardner. “This session will be challenging for legislators, and this is a wonderful opportunity for Representatives Drummond and Josephson and me to connect with constituents and engage in open and honest discussions about their priorities and concerns before we head to Juneau.”
