FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 16, 2015

ANCHORAGE – Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) will be holding a town hall style meeting on Saturday, October 17th at the Clark Middle School for residents of the Airport Heights, Mountain View, and Russian Jack neighborhoods.  The meeting will cover a broad range of topics including presentations from the Municipality of Anchorage on setting up a neighborhood watch, participating in the Trail Watch program, emergency preparedness, and Green Dot training.

“With our reduced police force it’s more important than ever to make sure people have the tools they need to keep themselves safe,” said Rep. Tarr.   “The Neighborhood Watch and Trail Watch programs empower citizens to help the police. Green Dot training will teach individuals how to safely intervene when witnessing situations that could lead to violence. Together we can put an end to the epidemic of violence in Alaska.”

At Saturday’s meeting, Rep. Tarr will also discuss the recent developments concerning the state’s fiscal situation and the proposed natural gas pipeline project.

“Alaskans have a lot of questions about how the state is going to weather our current fiscal situation,” said Rep. Tarr.  “I’m hoping area residents walk away from this meeting with a better understanding of where we’re at and what we need to accomplish to make sure Alaska prospers in the future.”
