FAIRBANKS – Representative Scott Kawasaki (D-Fairbanks) is ready for another summer in Fairbanks celebrating Picnics in the Park on Thursday, July 9, at 4 p.m. at Slaterville Park on Slater Street.
Since 2014, Rep. Kawasaki has hosted a series of picnics across the city to celebrate the more than 60 free public parks maintained by the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
“We are privileged to live in such a beautiful and scenic place,” said Rep. Kawasaki. “Join me at your local neighborhood park. Bring the family, enjoy a barbecue and share ideas and concerns on how to make Fairbanks a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
Rep. Kawasaki has worked with the Interior Delegation to secure money for many parks across Fairbanks including the South Davis Park complex, Pioneer Park upgrades, the Pioneer Museum, Growden Park, and artificial turf fields at the Fairbanks Youth Soccer Complex.
Since he came into office in 2007, Rep. Kawasaki has championed healthy living and active lifestyles. He has authored numerous legislative citations celebrating local groups varying from the Fairbanks Co-Op Market to the Equinox Marathon.
