This is only the first week of session and there is already so much excitement to share with you! As you may have heard, my very good friend and colleague, Representative Beth Kerttula of Juneau, is stepping down from her position as House Democratic Leader and leaving her seat in the Legislature for an amazing opportunity at Stanford University.
My staff and I have reached the end of the first week of session. I wanted to take the time in this newsletter to update you on some of my early observations about what’s happened and what’s to come this session: things like more money to public schools or vouchers, HB77, and a large diameter natural gasline.
JUNEAU – Today, Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) released the following statement in response to the state’s agreement with Wal-Mart to continue selling Alaska seafood.
JUNEAU – Today, Senator Berta Gardner (D-Anchorage) and Representative Andy Josephson (D-Anchorage) filed legislation to repeal state funds for the U-Med/Northern Access Road project. Senator Gardner and Representative Josephson represent the University area which is the location of the U-Med/Northern Access Road.
