Democratic Legislators to Offer Alaska Health Care Solutions at Policy Forum
ANCHORAGE – Today, Senator Bill Wielechowski, Senator Hollis French, and Representative Geran Tarr will offer a set of policy ideas to improve health care options in Alaska at a public forum hosted by the non-partisan group, State of Reform. The legislators will host a panel discussion at 11:30 a.m. as part of the larger event that includes political and policy experts from around Alaska.
“The health of Alaskans is one of the most important issues we can address,” said Tarr (D-Anchorage). “With thousands of Alaskans uninsured or underinsured and the tremendous financial impact this has on our state, now is the time to act.”
"The Governor faces a critical decision in the coming months–whether to extend affordable health coverage to 41,500 Alaskans who are currently uninsured," said Wielechowski (D-Anchorage). "Given that Congress has offered to pay one hundred percent of the cost initially, and 90% thereafter, the decision should be a no-brainer."
“This is a very exciting time in health care reform,” said French (D-Anchorage).
