Rep. Kawasaki's Juneau Note

Dear Neighbor,

signing

Greetings from the State Capital! As I raised my right hand today to swear my oath defend the Constitution, I was reminded of the privilege and honor it is to be your State Representative. The Legislature is prepared to work hard for the next 90-days on some major issues and I want to ensure that you are informed and up to date on the happenings in Juneau.

My email newsletter will be a way for me to keep you informed of what is going on in YOUR government. I want to make you aware of a couple of items that will be coming up shortly:

Getting Started

The session started off at a brisk pace with over 166 bills introduced in the first day alone! I got off to a head start and introduced several key pieces of legislation that I believe will be important to the future success of Alaska: by creating a medical school at UAF and law school in Anchorage, lowering property taxes, preventing gas and fuel oil price gouging, and protecting wild Alaska salmon from genetic modification.

Over the next few months leaders will discuss the merit of bills, introduce more idea and listen to the public on how we make Alaska a better place to live, work and play. As your representative, I look forward to hearing your comments and ideas.

Team KawasakiTeam Kawasaki

I am very excited to announce the team that will be working in my office this  year. Brodie Anderson is returning for his fifth year in my office. Jos Govaars has worked for several Fairbanks lawmakers and is starting with my office this year. Alicia Maryott is my key advisor on education issues.

Do Not Be Afraid to Call

The session will be a brief 90 days and be challenging. As always, please call my office at 1-866-465-3466 or 456-7423 or email me at Rep.Scott.Kawasaki@legis.state.ak.us if I may be of service to you.

Working Hard for Fairbanks Families,

Scott Kawasaki
