Rep. Stutes' Constituent Survey

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Memorial Day! My most heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of our past, present, and future veterans, as well as their families, for their sacrifices.

As you know, we are still in special session and negotiations are moving along slowly but surely. Please stay patient, informed, and engaged. I am hopeful that we can reach a compromise soon that is responsible to Alaskans and most of all to you, my constituents.

I will be in touch with more information as things change.

Survey:

I would like to take this opportunity to hear from you regarding your thoughts about the different proposed solutions to our fiscal problem.

In January, the Senate Republican Majority polled Alaskans on K12 education funding, broad-based taxes, and adjusting oil company tax credits. Those results showed Alaskans favor a comprehensive fiscal plan that includes reducing tax credits for the oil and gas industry, a broad-based tax, and continuing to fully fund K12 education.

By April, the House Majority Coalition passed their entire fiscal plan including budget cuts, a guaranteed PFD, income tax, full funding for K12 education, and adjustments to oil company taxes/credits.

Now, with the Special Session ongoing, we are curious to know where public opinion stands.  Please take a minute to complete the survey:

Here are links to calculators to let you get a rough idea of possible impacts on your own household:

Household cost of Senate Majority PFD cap.

Household cost of House Majority Income Tax.

Also, feel free to reach out to me with any suggestions or concerns you have. Whether your thoughts are on the budget, new revenue, fisheries or transportation issues, or something that is important to you and your family, I’m here for you and will always endeavor to work on your behalf.

Warm regards,
[signed] Louise Stutes
