How to Get Involved:

Attend Monthly Community Councils

Dear Neighbors,

This week there has been, and will be, a TON of opportunity for people to come together and discuss smart policy ideas to help our friends and neighbors while we work to create a sustainable budget.Senator Lisa Murkowski and Senator Dan Sullivan addressed the State Legislature this week. I support Senator Murkowski in her commitment to maintain Medicaid expansion, and welcome the opportunity to work with our national delegation to find solutions in any replacement to the Affordable Care Act.

On Monday I met with several young people to discuss the value of Planned Parenthood services, including evidence based, peer led, comprehensive sex education. Planned Parenthood provides opportunity for well-trained teen volunteers to teach each other about safe and healthy relationships, and how to access affordable reproductive healthcare. I am very impressed by the work of these young leaders, and appreciated the time I spent hearing their ideas. I’ve got to tell you, our future sure looks bright!

As the week comes to a close, there are two great opportunities for you to get involved as well:

• Remember that the Anchorage Caucus (will be hyperlinked) is this weekend on Saturday, February 25th from 10am-12pm. Stop by and check in with your local representation! Legislators from across Anchorage will be there to talk one-on-one with you. You can also participate in a “Dot Vote” to share your favorite solutions to our fiscal situation!

• Join me for a constituent meeting at Bartlett High School at 2:30pm on Saturday, February 25th. Senator Bill Wielechowski and Representative Gabrielle LeDoux will join me in a town hall style meeting with East Anchorage residents.

These events only work when you are present and participating, so please come out and see us!

Keep in touch!
