How to Get Involved:

Attend Monthly Community Councils

Dear Neighbors,

We kicked off the 30th legislative session on Tuesday and I am very excited about the session ahead. I’m optimistic about the great new coalition in the House, made up of Republicans, Independents and Democrats, all committed to taking care of business during the regular 90 day session. The Alaska House Majority Coalition members are committed to passing a responsible, sustainable budget along with a sustainable fiscal plan for funding it.

I am serving as the chair of the Health and Social Services Committee, as vice-chair of the Energy committee, and am a member of Military and Veteran’s Affairs Special Committee and Legislative Budget and Audit Joint Committee.

During this session, I want to continue to hear your valuable feedback. Members of our community have been vocal advocates for a variety of creative ideas that will help create innovative policy at the state level. My contact information is at the bottom of this e-newsletter and my excellent staff is always prepared to help.

Let me introduce the powerhouse team we have in the office who’ll be happy to help you.

  • Ted Madsen is back as Chief of Staff and my Committee Aide for the Health and Social Services committee. Many of you already know Ted through his previous work for me and the late Rep. Max Gruenberg.
  • Bernice Nisbett is an experienced legislative aide who is working on my legislative agenda.
  • Judy Jessen is staffing the front desk, so she’s the person you will most likely speak with when you contact the office. She is a graduate of the University of the University of Alaska Anchorage in Human Services and is a former Seawolf Speech and Debate member.
  • Genevieve Mina is an intern from the University of Alaska Anchorage where she is studying political science and biology. She is a current member of the acclaimed Seawolf Speech and Debate team.
