Juneau, AK – Today, the Senate unanimously passed House Joint Resolution 5, opposing what has been named “Frankenfish”. Sponsored by Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage), this resolution opposes FDA approval of genetically modified salmon.

The Gardens are Opening!

Winter is waning, spring is creeping in, and the Gardens at Bragaw are opening! The Anchorage Community Land Trust announced the opening of a new community garden this year. The garden is on Bragaw between 4th Ave and the Glenn Highway. Registration for Garden plots will take place on March 30th and April 6th at the Mountain View Library from 11 AM to 1 PM. NEWS: Democratic Amendments: Invest in Education Now, Proven Payoff Later

Even with amendments, total budget would still be less than governor’s

JUNEAU – Today on the floor of the Alaska House of Representatives, Democratic legislators offered a series of amendments to the state operating budget to save Alaska money by investing wisely in its human resources today. If each amendment passed, the total budget would still be smaller than that proposed by the governor.
