I’ve been meeting with constituents and various organizations from all across the state hearing from people interested in helping to develop responsible, evidence based policy. The budget continues to be the major focus of our non-partisan working coalition in the House. We are committed to having an open conversation between all parties who come to the table with good ideas and good intentions to create a responsible, sustainable budget. We know that’s a tall order, but we are prepared to tackle the budget head on, with all solutions on the table.

We kicked off the 30th legislative session on Tuesday and I am very excited about the session ahead. I’m optimistic about the great new coalition in the House, made up of Republicans, Independents and Democrats, all committed to taking care of business during the regular 90 day session. The Alaska House Majority Coalition members are committed to passing a responsible, sustainable budget along with a sustainable fiscal plan for funding it.

I have heard from many community members about public safety concerns in their neighborhoods. There has been an increase in crime in Anchorage which the Anchorage Police Department is responding to with three new training academies this year to get new recruits out on to the street.
