We gaveled into the 30th Legislature and are off to a busy start. I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges I will face in my new leadership role as House Rules Chair. Republican, Independent and Democrat legislators joined together to create the new Alaska House Majority Coalition. I am proud to report that this coalition represents all Alaskans, regardless of party affiliation or geographic location. We are working together to solve the State’s financial problems.

NEWS: New Leadership Results in Tangible Cost Savings in the Alaska House of Representatives

Juneau – As lawmakers grapple with how to fill a $3 billion budget gap, the Alaska House Majority Coalition has instituted several cost-saving measures within the Alaska House of Representatives. The largest such measure is to roll-back the level of staff pay that existed under the previous House Majority Caucus. The Legislative Affairs Agency anticipates savings of more than $270,000 compared to last year’s staff compensation.
