The House Finance Committee is continuing laser-focus on the budget in order to adjourn on time. In the days ahead, the budget will be amended in Finance Committee, then go to the House for a vote on the Floor before being referred to the Senate where the process will be repeated. But first and foremost, the public will have the opportunity to weigh in on our budget.

It was great to visit with so many Fairbanks neighbors and friends this week in Juneau as they advocated for their priorities, including early education, local government support, smoke-free workplaces and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. House Passes Resolution on Proposed Plan for Offshore Lease Sales

Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives passed House Resolution 6, weighing in on the 2019-2024 National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Draft Proposed Program. The current draft program calls for lease sales in 14 of the 15 planning areas in Alaska (there are a total of 26 planning areas across the country).

House Passes Bill to Keep Senior Benefits Program Running

Juneau – Rep. Scott Kawasaki (D-Fairbanks) released the following statement after the Alaska House of Representatives swiftly passed House Bill 236 tonight to extend the vital Senior Benefits program. The program is currently scheduled to sunset in June without legislative action.
