House Urges the Federal Government to Respect Marijuana Legalization in Alaska

Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution calling on the federal government to respect states’ rights and the will of the Alaskan people regarding marijuana policy. House Joint Resolution 21, sponsored by Rep. David Guttenberg (D-Fairbanks), also urges the federal government to reconsider its listing of marijuana as a schedule one controlled substance. Other schedule one controlled substances include heroin, LSD, and ecstasy.

House Passes Resolution on Proposed Plan for Offshore Lease Sales

Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives passed House Resolution 6, weighing in on the 2019-2024 National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Draft Proposed Program. The current draft program calls for lease sales in 14 of the 15 planning areas in Alaska (there are a total of 26 planning areas across the country).

Fairbanks – Representative David Guttenberg (D-Fairbanks) will attend a special ceremony in New York City this week to honor his late uncle, a decorated police officer who gave his life in the line of duty. Officer David Guttenberg was shot and killed during a robbery on December 28th, 1978. On Saturday, a street in New York City will be officially renamed in honor of Officer Guttenberg.
